This category honours outstanding photojournalism and storytelling photography work that showcases issues related to food sustainability. Participants can enter a photograph or a photo series on key themes or issues related to food sustainability. Entries will be judged according to effective use of photography, overall impact, composition, artistic merit and originality.

This category is open to professional staff photojournalists, freelancers, and individuals.
All entries should focus on stories and issues around the theme of food sustainability.
Individuals may submit a maximum of one entry per category.
Materials entered under the published photojournalism category must have been previously published or distributed on news sites, newspapers, magazines, or an established website or blog.
The photo or series of photos submitted for this category may not be digitally altered significantly beyond standard optimisation, as in cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, colour and contrast.
All photos submitted must be captioned and details of the device used to capture them must be included.
All entries must be submitted in English (or translated into English).
A professional reference contact or reference letter is mandatory.
The Food Sustainability Media Awards administrators and judging panel will have the final authority to determine eligibility of an entry.
Applications will reopen in January 2018
For the Award’s two categories, both published and unpublished work can be submitted. Published and unpublished entries are judged separately.
In addition, published and unpublished finalists in both categories are put forward for the Best of the Web Award. The winner of this award is chosen by the public.
